Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide is one of the most ambitious crossovers in board game history. Published by CMON in collaboration with Guillotine Games, it takes the beloved Zombicide dungeon-crawling formula and drops it into one of Marvel's darkest storylines — the zombie apocalypse where Earth's mightiest heroes have themselves become flesh-hungry undead.

What makes this game unique is its dual perspective. You can play as the surviving heroes fighting to stop the zombie apocalypse — or as the zombie heroes themselves, hunting down the last human survivors. Both modes use the same components but create radically different gameplay experiences.

Players who discover Marvel Zombies consistently describe the same reaction — seeing beloved heroes like Spider-Man and Captain America as rotting, hungry zombies creates a genuinely unsettling and memorable atmosphere that no other Marvel game delivers.

What Is Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide?

Marvel Zombies is a cooperative dungeon-crawling game for 1 to 6 players built on the Zombicide engine. Players choose from a roster of Marvel heroes — or zombie versions of those heroes — and work through scenario-based missions across a modular tile board representing Marvel's New York.

The game features two distinct modes. In Heroes' Resistance mode, players control surviving heroes fighting to complete objectives while being hunted by zombie Marvel characters. In Zombie mode, players control the undead heroes themselves — growing stronger by devouring survivors and working toward their own sinister objectives.

What Makes It Unique?

🧟

Dual Perspective

Play as heroes OR as zombie heroes. Two completely different gameplay experiences in one box.

🦸

Iconic Characters

Spider-Man, Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine — as zombies. Deeply detailed miniatures.

🗺️

Modular Board

Tile-based New York that changes every scenario — no two sessions look the same.

📖

Campaign Mode

Linked scenarios with persistent hero progression — characters grow stronger across sessions.

How Does It Play?

Each scenario has specific objectives — rescue survivors, retrieve items, reach an exit, destroy a target. Players activate their heroes each turn, using action points to move, attack, search for equipment, or use special abilities. Then the zombie phase activates — spawning new undead and moving existing ones toward the nearest noise source.

The Zombicide DNA is strong here. The tension of managing noise, positioning carefully, and deciding when to fight versus when to run feels instantly familiar to Zombicide veterans — but the Marvel character abilities add a superhero layer that standard Zombicide lacks. Spider-Man's web abilities, Captain Marvel's flight, and Hulk's rage mechanics all feel authentically translated.

The zombie mode flips the experience entirely. Instead of managing resources and avoiding detection, players are the overwhelming force — growing stronger with each victim devoured, unlocking new abilities, and working toward objectives that feel genuinely menacing.
