What Is Wingspan?

Wingspan is an engine-building card game for 1 to 5 players. You play as a bird enthusiast building the most impressive wildlife sanctuary — attracting, feeding, and breeding birds across three different habitats: forest, grassland, and wetland.

Each of the 170 unique bird cards is based on a real species, complete with scientific facts, stunning artwork by Natalia Rojas, Ana Maria Martinez Jaramillo, and Beth Sobel, and special abilities that interact with your growing engine. No two games ever feel the same.

The goal is to accumulate the most points across four rounds by playing birds, collecting eggs, gathering food, and completing end-of-round goals that change every game.

How Does It Play?

Each turn you choose one of four actions: play a bird card, gather food, lay eggs, or draw more cards. Simple enough. But the magic is in the engine you build over four rounds — each bird you place activates abilities that chain into other birds, creating satisfying cascades of actions.

A well-built engine feels genuinely rewarding. When you play the right bird at the right moment and trigger five effects in a row, there's a real sense of accomplishment that keeps players coming back.
