What Is Horrified?

Horrified is a fully cooperative strategy game for 1 to 5 players. Everyone plays as heroes working together to defeat the monsters threatening a classic horror-movie village. Each game, you choose which monsters to include — from 2 at easier difficulty to 4 for a punishing challenge.

There is no dungeon master, no traitor, no hidden roles. Every player is on the same team against the game itself. The monsters move and act according to a card-driven AI system that makes them feel genuinely threatening without requiring any player to control them.

The key innovation: each monster requires a completely different method to defeat. You don't just fight the monsters — you solve them. Each one has a unique puzzle that must be completed while surviving their attacks.

How Does It Play?

On each turn, a hero takes actions — moving around the board, picking up items, escorting villagers to safety, and working toward each monster's unique defeat condition. Then a monster card is drawn, which moves and activates each monster on the board according to their individual rules.

The tension comes from managing multiple threats simultaneously. Dracula might be hunting a villager while the Wolfman is blocking the item you need and the Creature is advancing down the river. Prioritizing threats and coordinating with your teammates is what Horrified is really about.

The difficulty scales naturally based on which monsters you include. Two monsters is approachable for new players. Four monsters is a genuine challenge even for experienced groups. The game includes three difficulty settings that adjust how aggressively the monsters behave.
